California REQUIRES that all Phlebotomy Technicians or Phlebotomists who work in California hold a California Phlebotomy License.
One of the requirements of licensure is that all Phlebotomists must take and pass a Phlebotomy certification examination from an approved certifying organization. AMTis approved as a certifying organization by the State of California.
Please note that submitting the AMTapplication to take the approved AMTRegistered Phlebotomy Technician (RPT) examination DOES NOT double as the application for the State of California. A separate application must be submitted to the State (only the application, no exam would be required if taking the AMTexam).
